SACAC offers a Post Graduate Diploma course in Photography
Sri Aurobindo Centre for Arts & Communication, New Delhi offers a post graduate diploma course in Photography. The admission for this course is now open and the classes are scheduled to commence in August this year.
The Diploma in Photography, an intensive one year programme, is designed not only to introduce students to the technical and creative needs of creative photography but to also aid students in going far beyond the technicalities into concerns of aesthetics as well as ruminations over the nature of photography as a form of art. The curriculum focuses on two basic things for the student: evolving the ability to recognize and appreciate human situations and aspirations;
The course covers Image making, Digital Photography Basics, Lighting, Framing and Composition, Photoshop, Post Production, Multi Media Applications in Photography, Art Appreciation & Practice and Different genres of Photography (Documentary and Life Photography, Fashion Photography techniques, Photo Journalism, Portraiture etc.), Portfolio Building and ends with a Diploma Project.
The Creative Photography course includes imparting knowledge of post-shooting editing and curatorial practices as well so that students go out ready to take up freelance assignments on their own. On successful completion of the course a student is ready to take on independent assignments, join or freelance for NGOs, magazines and newspapers, news bureaus and agencies, commercial or advertising agencies. Candidates are welcome from all educational backgrounds (including certificate programmes from private institutes). Admission is subject to an aptitude test followed by an interview.
Sri Aurobindo Centre for Arts & Communication (SACAC) is an autonomous non-profit mass communication institute for creative learning in media arts and communication. Started in 2003 as a unit of Sri Aurobindo Society, Puducherry, SACAC is a multi-disciplinary institute with programmes in Advertising & Public Relations, Creative Photography, Film Production, Journalism and Sound Design.
