The yearly Initial Quality Survey is a massive undertaking by J.D. Power & Associates. For the most recent survey, the organization contacted over 86,000 owners of 2014 vehicles following 90 days of ownership. They were asked a number of questions about what they liked about the vehicle and any observed faults. Results of this survey can have a major effect on car sales. Drivers who own a vehicle with a high Initial Quality rating are very likely to return to that automaker when they purchase their next car. Tom Gill Chevy certainly knows that is the case thanks to their many returning customers. The midsize sedan segment is one of the most competitive in the automotive industry. In the Initial Quality Survey, the 2014 Chevy Malibu was ranked number one in the midsize class. The Malibu sedan offers attractive styling and modern features like Bluetooth connectivity and a touchscreen interface. It’s also quite efficient with a standard highway fuel economy rating of 36 mpg. In the heavy duty pickup truck class, the 2014 Chevy Silverado HD was ranked in the top spot. Designed for drivers who need more power and performance, the Silverado HD is divided into 2500 and 3500 weight designations. The 2014 Chevy Silverado 3500 offers towing capability up to 23,100 pounds, leaving very few jobs it can’t take on. For lighter jobs, the redesigned 2014 Chevy Silverado 1500 is also available. Chevy also claimed the first spot in the large SUV category with the 2014 Chevy Suburban. The 2014 Chevy Tahoe came in second place. Both vehicles offer seating for large families, performance along the lines of a light duty pickup truck, and plenty of features. The 2014 Chevy Camaro and the 2014 Chevy Equinox also earned honorable mentions for their Initial Quality score.
