Smithfield Medical Spa Explains the Proper Way to Apply Sunscreen
At Evolve Medical Spa, they are dedicated to helping clients improve their overall health, appearance and well-being through a variety of medical spa treatments in addition to offering clients pharmaceutical grade skin care products.
While no sunscreen is 100% effective, most sun damage is caused by infrequent or improper sunscreen application. By applying sunscreen correctly and daily, people can protect their skin from sun damage and from having to use anti-aging beauty products prematuraly in life.
"The first step in applying sunscreen is to choose the right sunscreen," said Melonie Mosley, licensed medical aesthetician at Evolve Medical Spa. "Your username should have an SPF of at least 30, be water-resistant and provide broad-spectrum coverage. This will protect you from both UVA and UVB rays."
She also said that sunscreen should be applied 20-30 minutes before going outside, as this gives the lotion enough time to absorb into the skin to start providing protection. Other application tips include applying liberally all over the body, applying to all bare skin (including ears, and tops of hands and feet), and reapplying frequently.
