AMARILLO, Texas - June 17, 2014 - PRLog -- Friday, August 8 through Sunday, August 10, the Range Riders sixth annual Rope for a Cure event will benefit kids with Type 1 Diabetes and research for a cure. Range Riders welcomes all ages to experience the art of roping at the Range Rider Indoor Arena at 313 W. Loop 335 South, Amarillo, TX.

Fundraising for the event is already off to an amazing start. Avery Thompson, an eleven-year-old girl with Type 1 Diabetes, raised $1,405 for Rope for a Cure by asking for donations in lieu of gifts at her birthday party this year. Avery presented the donation to JT Haynes with Rope for a Cure expressing her enthusiasm and dedication to the event that helps so many others like her in the Texas Panhandle.

During the event, Roping Schools will be available for beginning ropers, and open roping contests will take place for professionals and amateurs who want to put their roping skills to the test. The weekend will also include a Cowboy Ball and Dinner on Saturday, August 9. Music and entertainment for the Cowboy Ball and Dinner will be provided by Casey Berry. Also, Jake LaGrone, Tour Manager of Jason Aldean, will have items money can’t buy to feature at the event. Jake is well known in the music business and has worked with the likes of Rascal Flatts, Reba McEntire, Lonestar, Alan Jackson, and more. To purchase tickets for the Cowboy Ball and Dinner, call Jerry Don Thompson at (806) 681-3171.

Event planners are also holding a raffle ticket drawing for $4,000 in granite countertops from Adobe Walls Stoneworks and a John Deere Gator from Western Equipment valued at $19,000. Raffle tickets can be purchased on the Rope for a Cure Facebook page at facebook.com/RopeforaCure (https://www.facebook.com/RopeforaCure/app_195646697137509) and at the following retailers:
