Indie Author, Kara Skye Smith, applies for Oregon Book Awards with her Biographical Play
Local author attempts to score prestigious Oregon Book Award for self-published eBook ‘Chagall: 12-Sided Hallway’ for 2013-2014 award year.

Hoping to have made money with sales of the play to produce a full-scale show, Kara Skye Smith promoted the play online through tweets, small blogs, and Pinterest. She also resigned herself to accepting a small-scale actor reading with an audience as the play’s production readers (an OBA requirement)
Kara believes that as a cancer surviour that motivates her to share her joy and journey writing about art and performance with Oregon and hopefully, with the world. “It is the struggle to survive which adds zeal and passion to my work.” states Kara
“I wrote, researched, edited and designed the cover art over a period of several years, holding it back from adding it to my list of self-published ebooks, thinking the play might never be published at all,” states author, Kara Skye. “Knowing how far I’ve come with this book, it’s very humbling that I think that I can even score a win with a prestigious award.”
Kara Skye is experienced writer, author and artist who current lives in Portland, Oregon. She began writing at in 2007 and focuses her writing efforts for all-ages in her children's books and adult fiction. She currently writes historical fiction and historical romance. In 2012, she took her self-publishing label, Fae-tality Publishing, to Indie level registering with Bowker and added her label to the ever growing Indie list. She self-published her first play on Amazon in October of 2013.
