ATLANTA - June 16, 2014 - PRLog -- Atlanta based Wrecka Stow Productions will take over the 10 High club in Virginia Highlands on June 22, 2014 from 7pm-12am to play all things Prince. Georgia DJ's from Atlanta and Savannah plan to converge on the Atlanta club to celebrate the music of Prince including his hits, music from his protege bands, lost tracks, and what they're labeling as surprises.

Mr. Christopher from the funk website Funkatopia ( reflected on the need for a show like this. "Prince hasn't performed a show here in Atlanta in over 10 years when he came through to support his Musicology album. While he did make a brief appearance playing guitar behind Tamar in 2006, it just seems like Atlanta isn't on his radar anymore."

He continued, "It was at that point that I decided that Atlanta needed to hold our own show to take over a venue and play nothing but Prince and Prince related music the entire night to serve as a cathartic release for the thousands of fans based in Atlanta. When I realized that 2014 was the 30th anniversary of the movie Purple Rain, it was very evident that this year was the right time."

That journey led to Savannah based DJ Ben Umbreit who had a shared purple vision. Ben toured Europe and had seen similar events in Chicago at the Berlin Nightclub. Armed with over 2100 Prince and Prince related songs in his library, Ben had already begun to spin the Prince dance parties under the umbrella of his group "25 Shades Of Purple" bi-annually in Savannah at Seed: Eco Lounge.

Fate then brought Ben and Mr. Christopher together and they decided to expand the efforts into Atlanta which was pushed into fruition by the persistence of hundreds of Prince fans. A couple Atlanta meetings later and the duo had the date and venue locked down.

"We chose 10 High in Virginia Highlands because it's a smaller 200 capacity venue that will allow us to test the waters. If it goes successfully, there will be more where that came from.", Chris reflected. "We chose this date due to his performance at the Essence Music Festival in New Orleans happening a couple of weeks later. It will give those going a place to get excited and for those that aren't going, a pretty great temporary escape."

"However, due to the nature of how protective Prince is over his music, we also had to be sure that we stay within his blessings. As a result, we've decided to make this a free event to attend."

Wrecka Stow Productions was created as a hub for these events in hopes that there would be more. The name Wrecka Stow is a tongue in cheek reference to a phrase used in Prince's movie Under The Cherry Moon where he refers to where you go if you want to buy an album. "The whole existence of Wrecka Stow Productions is to start a movement. To bring back Prince and funk in general to the mainstream. So we've had to be careful and make sure that people understand that there's no profit motive here. It's about the betterment of the music we're force fed on a regular basis and to bring back the purple age of radio where real musicians fill the airwaves."

"The 10 High show on June 22nd is about Prince fans being able to get together and party and have a release. A night that belongs to them. Clubs here in the states rarely play his music anymore and radio dropped him from the playlists decades ago. This party looks to rectify that if only for one evening, but hopefully many more in the near future."

The event will take place June 22, 2014 from 7pm-12am at 10 High in Atlanta at 818 North Highland Avenue, Atlanta, GA 30306 next to Dark Horse Tavern. Find out more info at
