June 13, 2014 - PRLog -- Tamika Christy is no stranger to juggling. She wrote her debut novel, Anytime Soon (BQB Publishing, 2014), as a stress outlet while raising two daughters, attending law school, and working full-time. Now she has a new role to add to the mix—that of award-winning author. The Next Generation Indie Awards, the largest nonprofit awards program for independent publishers, recently recognized Christy’s book as a finalist in the African American category.

“The awards ceremony was inspiring, and being in a room full of talented authors, editors, and others in the book industry made the experience even greater,” says Christy. “Receiving this wonderful honor affirmed my decision of becoming an author...Nothing feels better than knowing my work is valued.”

Anytime Soon follows Anaya Goode, a rising college senior who struggles to find her voice against the noise of other people’s drama. As she copes with the mysterious death of her brother and watches as her family and friends spiral out of control, she puts her own life on hold. Torn between two men, Anaya must learn to trust her heart and find the courage to move in a new direction.

About the Author
Born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area, Tamika Christy started writing at an early age after receiving a journal as a Christmas gift. In college, she majored in English with a creative writing focus and realized her true passion for writing—and discovered an interest in becoming a published author. Uncertain of her career path, she attended law school and has since pursued a career in local government to embrace the bureaucrat within. She still resides in the Bay Area with her two daughters and enjoys running, cooking, and gleaning inspiration for her second novel from her own multidimensional family.
