Rohde & Schwarz and ASTRI demonstrate test solution on Sunnada's commercial LTE end-to-end smallcell
The solution was demonstrated at MAE featuring an LTE end-to-end small cell network consisting of commercial TD-LTE small cells bridged by ASTRI’s core network, where the small cells were developed by Fujian Sunnada Communication Co. Ltd. based on ASTRI’s LTE PHY. The demonstration showed the use of 2x2 MIMO links for supporting bi-directional live video streaming and massive FTP data traffic simultaneously with QoS scheduling. The maximum throughput in TDD mode reaches 100Mbps.
The test setup by Rohde & Schwarz and ASTRI included an R&S RTO digital oscilloscope supporting the acquisition of 2x2 MIMO uplink and downlink signals from the LTE end-to-end small cell network. The uplink and downlink MIMO signals were received and demodulated by the R&S RTO digital oscilloscope and analyzed on a personal computer using the R&S FS-K102PC EUTRA/LTE downlink MIMO software and R&S FS-K105PC EUTRA/LTE uplink TDD software.
The R&S RTO oscilloscope is well-suited for this application since it can acquire up to 4x4 MIMO signals by virtue of its four input channels. The frontends of the R&S RTO contain outstanding characteristics such as high input sensitivity and extremely low noise. The high dynamic range of the R&S RTO delivers signal analysis results which are comparable to those of a mid-range signal analyzer.
As a leader in LTE and LTE-Advanced technologies, ASTRI has been developing reference designs for TD-LTE and LTE FDD small cells and core network since 2008 and has delivered market-ready reference designs to wireless infrastructure vendors such as Sunnada. ASTRI relies on Rohde & Schwarz test solutions for such development. For example, ASTRI has helped Sunnada to perform 3GPP base-station conformance tests on its LTE small cell with the aid of an R&S RTO oscilloscope and an R&S SMW200A vector signal generator.
Sunnada, a China-based wireless network equipment manufacturer and service provider, started its collaboration with ASTRI on commercial TD-LTE small cell and small cell gateway solutions since 2011. ASTRI has the proven technical strengths in providing LTE small cell and terminal baseband reference design, as well as LTE small cell gateway and evolved packet core (EPC) solution.
The live demonstration on the test solution by Rohde & Schwarz and ASTRI is currently staged at the booth N2.E12 (Entrance Hall 2 (North) booth E12) at the MAE 2014 being held at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre (SNIEC).
