United Way of Porter County Welcomes New Regional Director of Early Childhood Education Initiatives

VALPARAISO, Ind. - June 9, 2014 - PRLog -- United Way of Porter County (UWPC) is excited to welcome Kim
Olesker to their team. She will fill the role of Regional Director of United Way Early Childhood Education Initiatives and will serve all three United Ways (LaPorte, Porter and Lake Counties) in Northwest Indiana.

Olesker, a graduate of the University of Nebraska at Omaha, is currently pursuing a Masters degree in Nonprofit Leadership and Management. Throughout her career, Olesker has compiled an impressive portfolio of experience, including roles as the VP of Marketing for a production company involved in pro-social children’s content, Community Representative of the American Cancer Society in LaPorte, St. Joseph, Porter and Lake Counties and the Alpha Xi Delta Director of Housing.

Sharon Kish, United Way of Porter County CEO said, “We’re really excited to have Kim on board with us. She’s brought a lot of great experience and knowledge to the table, and she truly understands the importance of improving early childhood education, development, health, nutrition and well-being across all three counties.”

As part of her new role, Olesker will present United Way’s Success By 6 and Minds in Motion initiatives to educators, parents, child care providers and potential corporate partners. She will also play an integral role in creating kindergar ten readiness camps, which help build a solid start for children and equip them with the tools and knowledge that will give them a head start when they enter the educational system. “With 8,700 children entering kindergarten in Northwest Indiana this fall, ensuring children are prepared for school is a priority,” said Olesker. “Through our programs, we’re giving them the tools they need for a successful future.”
