Lake Oswego Citizens Action League Adds New Directors

Political action committee prepares for 2014 election season
LAKE OSWEGO, Ore. - June 9, 2014 - PRLog -- The Lake Oswego Citizens Action League (LOCAL) has added two new directors: Lauren Hughes and Cheryl Salamie. The additions to the group's leadership come in the wake of three recent departures at the director level by Mary Olsen, Ron Smith and Peter Sweet. "While Mary has moved away from the community, Peter is in the process of moving, and Ron has decided to devote his voluntary efforts towards animal rescue," commented LOCAL Director Rick Petry. "We are grateful for their extensive contributions and look forward to working with our new leadership team during this critical election year."

Petry clarified that one of the group's primary missions is to elect officials that align with LOCAL's core values, "irrespective of any political labels others might like to pin on us or the candidates we support. We are a non-partisan group that share common values." Those values include:

* Prioritiziing local needs
* Ensuring fiscal responsibility
* Focusing on essential city services
* Preserving local community character
* Respecting all citizens and their rights

Petry's fellow director, Rich Akerman added, "Our vision is to help these officials get elected and then let them lead our city. At the same time, we strive to keep our officials accountable to our values and help inform our community about key issues."
