CANARY WHARF, U.K. - June 9, 2014 - PRLog -- A number of systems are now on sale in the UK that enables your smartphone or tablet to control your central heating and promise to save you hundreds of pounds per year. The Ixl Company takes a look at the claims and how these systems can help you.

The systems work by increasing the amount of time your central heating is switched off, and decreasing the amount of time it is on, by only turning it on when you are home, instead of money being wasted by leaving heating on whilst you are out. The claims of hundreds of pounds savings have not been taken lightly as Google have bought the US manufacturer for around 2 billion pounds. “You know something is more than just a claim when a giant such as Google pays such a huge amount for something. Google has been around for a long time and I would think they have a huge amount of knowledge when it comes to good systems, so this must be something big!” says Sam Mouden, Managing Director at The Ixl Company.

It is not just a simple switch on when your home and off when you leave, these systems use smart GPS technology to track where you are and what time you are expected to get home to plan when to turn heating, and even water, on and off. It also uses local weather forecasts to plan the correct temperatures at the correct times. Claims that you can save 400 pounds or 27% on your energy bills yearly mean that, if the claims are true, it will pay for itself within just a few years. Larger more expensive systems allow for each room to be heated individually, meaning even more savings to be made. “Personally, my heating is set for evenings and mornings, but there are so many times when I may go for dinner and be late, or stay up late while my room is heating up, it is simply a waste of money to have rooms or a whole house heating up when nobody is there to use it. I think it is a great idea” says Emma Clarkson, receptionist at The Ixl Company.

“It’s a great piece of technology, not only is it a money saver, it is good for the environment and just generally makes sense, no wonder Google have snapped it up, I can see these systems being very popular, and the fact they pay for themselves with savings in just a few years make them an investment rather than just a purchase” says Sam Mouden, Managing Director at The Ixl Company. The savings made obviously do vary depending on the size of your house, and your lifestyle. For example those that are in and out more often, travel with work and live in a 3 bedroom house would make more savings than a full time mum with 2 children in a two bedroom flat, however the savings are there and so far seem fairly accurate.

“Only time will tell, but if these systems live up to their name, you can guarantee more households than not will have one of these systems in place in the next few years as majority of people, rich or poor, like to save money” says Emma Clarkson, Receptionist at The Ixl Company.
