2nd National Electio PRO-AM draws a crowd in KZN

ALL, South Africa - June 8, 2014 - PRLog -- Durban, South Africa, June 2014. Following the success of the previous Electio Pro-Am event held at the Copperleaf Golf Course in Pretoria, the 2^nd  National Electio Pro-Am took place on 2^nd  June at Beachwood Golf Course. A total of 30 teams from Durban gathered in Beachwood to compete in an 18-hole stroke play. Many famous South African Pro’s and socialites came to enjoy the Durban sun and compete in the tournament. Speeches were delivered by both the Chairman of the PGA, Mr Andy Bean and the General Manager of Electio Invest Group, Mr Kyle Pillay. Teams were composed of a PGA professional member and three amateurs with a handicap limited to 24 for the gentlemen and 28 for the ladies.

A team from Durban North led by professional golfer Brad Ross of Beachwood Golf won third place with a score of 91. Pro golfer Ryan Scheirhout led the winning team with a score of 93 points and the team led by Francois De Lange placed second with a score of 92 points.

Electio hosted an awards ceremony to celebrate the 2nd National Electio Pro-Am on Monday, 02nd June where trophies and prizes were awarded to the winning teams in addition to a prize draw. Prizes included a variety of golf equipment and prize money.

The Beachwood golf course is a world-class course of impeccable standards that overlooks the beautiful waters of the Indian Ocean. A competitive course that challenges professionals also offers ample opportunities for beginners and golf lovers of all levels to enjoy the sport.

A stone's throw from Durban Country Club, the Beachwood course is a hidden gem offering a superb challenge for the golfer that enjoys a typical Links layout. It is currently rated 29 in the Golf Digest Top 100 Courses in SA.

An interesting aspect of the course is that it lies at the southern end of Virginia Airport - mainly for small commercial aircraft, private flights, training flights and helicopters - adding an element of excitement to see these small aircraft take off and land directly overhead.

This course is a very good challenge to the handicap, for the fairways are narrow and long, and require precision tee shots and lay-ups. The course is maintained with the same diligence and care as that of the Country Club course.
