Cancer Survivors Take to the Runway for the Survivor's Fashion Show Benefitting Cancer Research

LOS ANGELES - June 6, 2014 - PRLog -- Cancer Survivors will take to the runway in Summer Fashions, as their inspiring stories of victory are narrated for the audience. This inspiring event will be held at the Taglyan Complex, located at 1201 Vine Street., Los Angeles, CA 90038, on Thursday, June 26, 2014, from 5:30pm until 10:00pm. Proceeds will be donated to the American Cancer Society's 'Relay For Life'.

"Events in the City LA is privileged to showcase and celebrate these women who've battled cancer and won," said Events in the City LA Founder, Sweeney Mae. "Our designers are pulling out their newest and best fashions of the season to highlight these amazing ladies and the wonderful young adults who are also a part of this event."

There are almost 14.5 million cancer survivors alive in the US today, and that number will grow to almost 19 million by 2024, according to a new report from the American Cancer Society.

Styles to be unveiled on the runway will include JCPenney and Sears featuring the Kardashian Kollection, showcasing some of their hottest summer trends, Sue Wong award winning couture designer and House of Yere (swimwear), as well as Verenisse Machado Designs, Danny Massare of Tanari Jewelry, Lizaso, Pisidia USA, Neva Marie Designs, The Write Fit, Meca Smith, Crespatrick de llos Reyes, Jason Oliver, Rochell Porter and Jazmyne Procks.

Keynote Speaker Mark Antonio Grant serves as a Representative for Councilman Bill Rosendahl, and is also a cancer survivor and American Cancer Society’s Hero of Hope/Profile of Courage recipient. Mark will share his experience and encouraging others to join in the battle. Mistress of Ceremony will be the incomparable actress and director, Taja V. Simpson. You know her from The Bold & The Beautiful, Grey’s Anatomy, Nickelodeon’s The Thunderman’s, NCIS: LA, among others.

Tickets are being sold online only. VIP: $150; Preferred Seating: $100; General Admission: $60. The VIP and Preferred Seating ticket holders will be featured at the green carpet arrival (step and repeat) starting at 5:30pm and will be served dinner at 6:30pm until 7:30pm during a private performance and fashion show. The VIP Guests will receive a SWAG bag. Doors will be open for General Admission ticket holders at 7:30pm and the show starts at 8:00pm. There will be a no-host bar in the lobby and exciting vendors to network with, some of which includes: Origami Owl, Mary Kay, Upgrade WLA, Bling Collection, Krave Jerky and more!

Mark-Antonio Grant is a Staff Liaison for Public Works Projects and Public Safety issues, as well as Representative for Councilman Bill Rosendahl. The American Cancer Society honored him as a Hero of Hope / Profile of Courage recipient for the 2010 – 2011 year. The following year, the California Division of the American Cancer Society also honored Mark as their Hero of Hope / Profile of Courage recipient. In this capacity, Mark continues to share the story of his experience, encouraging others to join in the battle against cancer; using various public venues as a platform to celebrate fellow survivors; honor those we have lost; and encourage others to be sure to get their regular check-ups; providing an inspiration and promoting the vision of a world where cancer is but a footnote on the pages of history.
