ATLANTA - June 6, 2014 - PRLog -- Seniors in the Greenbriar (Atlanta) community were tired of the violence and problems going on in their community and instead of pointing fingers at the youth they decided to embrace them.  Hassan Artiste Raheem and his friends could have been sitting back in their retirement homes talking about how their community is depreciating. Instead they decided to address the communities’ problems by creating a day for everyone to come together dialogue, talk about solutions and have a good time.  Raheem created the Seniors2Youth Greenbriar community day.

Raheem said, “Spring Festivals and celebrations are as old as time and cross many different cultures and continents. We want the Greenbriar Community in Atlanta to spring back alive and to celebrate in every way. We want to bring back the things we used to do back in the day so we can reconnect with the youth. We have to stop sitting back and talking.  I think the seniors are as much as fault as the youth because somewhere along the way, we dropped the ball and our children and their children went astray,” said Hassan.

Hassan reached out to Jonathan Hart who owns Déjà vu 2 to help put the festival together.  “At first I was just looking for a venue but then Mr. Hart really loved the idea and even decided to sponsor it and help organize it. I was really amazed with the support from Hart and Déjà vu 2.”

Hart jumped on board because he believes that the youth just want to be heard.  “We have to stop just talking about the problems in our community and start creating solutions.  This is a day for the youth to talk and express themselves and for the seniors to do the same.  I think it’s the beginning of something great,” explained Hart.

The Seniors2Youth “ComeUnity “Day brings the Community together in the spirit of celebrating new growth and an empowering forecast for the future. Former Atlanta City Attorney, Shelitha Robertson who is running for Fulton County Superior Judge will be in attendance along with other community leaders.  The fire department will be in attendance with their fire truck for the kids to play with. The Renaissance Tennis Association will also be present along with a slew of vendors, performers and talent.  One of Atlanta’s top Catering businesses, Mr. Everything’ will be the supplier of food for this event.
