MIDDLEBURY, Conn. - June 5, 2014 - PRLog -- MIDDLEBURY, Conn. –  The second installment by News Team Quassy went live today as the after-school program with Girls Inc. of Southwestern Connecticut produced an educational video on roller coaster physics.

More than a dozen youngsters from local schools worked on the project for several weeks, researching various subjects related to the workings of roller coasters as well as the history about the thrill rides. The team recently visited to Quassy Amusement & Waterpark to shoot scenes at “Wooden Warrior” and “Little Dipper,” Quassy’s two coasters.

About The Program

News Team Quassy was launched this school year with local and area schools taking part in a revolving schedule of video reports about the locally-owned facility.

“In this age of online social media, we believe our new program is providing an excellent outlet for students to create some informative and educational videos,” said Quassy’s George Frantzis II. “Teams selected for the project are conducting research on a variety of subjects and will present factual reports that can be shared with others.”

Schools participating in News Team Quassy have received reporting assignments from the park along with deadlines. The finished reports, running less than 10 minutes in length, have been posted on Quassy’s YouTube Channel, Facebook Fan Page and related school sites. The finished video reports are approved by school faculty and Quassy Amusement & Waterpark prior to being posted.

Topics include educational reports on lasers, roller coaster physics, history of Quassy Amusement & Waterpark and more. Long Meadow Elementary School in Middlebury, Conn., completed a report on laser technology earlier this year.
