Follow on Google News | Take Back Your Power Wins 2014 Leo Award for Best BC DocInvestigative film exposing questionable practices of BC Hydro and other utilities gets hometown nod
By: Sun & Sky Productions "We are ecstatic," said producer and director Josh del Sol. "This film was born in BC. After touring around the US and building bridges internationally, the Leo brings us back to where it all began." TBYP was released in September 2013 as the first in-depth exploration of the hot-button 'smart meter' installations that have taken British Columbia, and many regions around the world, by storm. The fight continues to unfold in BC and around the world as a growing number of homeowners challenge utility companies and governments on a host of far-reaching and controversial issues. The government-sponsored wireless meters have monitor and control capabilities within private homes, are linked to increased bills, and have not been shown to save energy. This is the third significant award for TBYP, also having received honours for the AwareGuide Transformational Film of the Year, and the Indie Fest Annual Humanitarian Award. It has screened in more than 120 communities and theatres in 5 nations. TBYP can be viewed online or on DVD, and community screenings are available at http://www.takebackyourpower.net. End
