South Jersey Engineering & Research Launches Indiegogo Campaign for the SandPiper I.S. Spirometer

AVALON, N.J. - June 4, 2014 - PRLog -- South Jersey Engineering and Research, a start-up high tech consumer product development firm based in Avalon, New Jersey, has announced their intent to seek crowdfunding support for the manufacturing of their Android & iOS, smartphone enabled, portable spirometer through an Indiegogo campaign. Lead by founders, Jonathan Frey and Blaise Menzoni, South Jersey Engineering and Research has invented the world's first truly portable, ultra low-cost, smartphone enabled incentive spirometer, the SandPiper I.S.

The SandPiper I.S. allows anyone to affordably measure lung function and capacity anywhere, anytime.  It provides a full spirometric analysis and has the ability to store data right to the smartphone. Such data can be used by pulmonologists to monitor changes in lung performance and more. The technology behind the SandPiper I.S. is what makes this product so unique. It is a novel flow meter, utilizing the most advanced concepts in fluid dynamics, energy harvesting, and Fourier mathematics. It is made of medical grade plastics, and has been adapted for use in all modern mobile device headphone jacks.

Says Frey, “For the health conscious individual with an extra couple of thousand dollars to spend, there are at-home spirometry solutions which can be used to measure lung function and more. If you have the money, there are some excellent personal health care options available; but what about the other 99% of us who don't have a couple thousand dollars in spare change?  This was the need which drove us to invent the SandPiper I.S., the world's first truly portable, ultra low-cost, smartphone enabled spirometer. We saw the need and now we want to help develop the solution.”

Starting June 23, 2014, South Jersey Engineering will make its SandPiper I.S. spirometer available for pre-order on the world’s largest open-funding, crowdfunding platform, Indiegogo, at a special introductory price. Shares Menzoni, “The objective is to create a buzz around this unique healthcare product, incentivizing individuals to contribute to the SandPiper I.S. campaign, thereby generating the financial means by which this life-changing product can be mass-produced.”
