CO Poisonings and Laws Prompt Fire, Security & Alarm Company to Offer Free Lectures and Proper

June 4, 2014 - PRLog -- June 4th, 2014, Centereach, NY — As a public service, Briscoe Protective Systems Inc. (http://www.briscoeprotective.com/ssn-5-questions.html) is offering free presentations to local businesses, organizations, and Chambers of Commerce on the dangers of carbon monoxide (also known as the “silent killer”) and how to comply with the new local laws. Presentations will discuss what the local codes entail and what is required of businesses to be in compliance.

After Steve Nelson, the General Manager of the Legal Sea Foods restaurant in Huntington, suddenly passed away from carbon monoxide poisoning, many Long Island towns and communities have passed legislation requiring the installation of carbon monoxide devices in certain commercial occupancies before any New York State mandates require it.

The presentations are produced under the supervision of a New York State-approved Fire Alarm Course Instructor. They are intended to help the public identify the symptoms of carbon monoxide poisoning, the dangers of inhaling the gas, and how to protect building tenants, employees and the general public from the deadly gas. Additionally, the presentations will include details on the new local legislation, including the “Steve Nelson Safety Act,” and how to comply with these new laws that will soon be in effect.

Briscoe can host the presentation at its corporate headquarters, located at 99 Mark Tree Road in Centereach, or at the organization or company’s facility. In addition, Briscoe will offer a complimentary survey to evaluate a commercial property’s existing system to see how it can interface with the newly required CO devices.

“It is important that everyone is protected from a dangerous gas that kills hundreds of people a year, yet those deaths are 100% preventable,” says Bob Williams, President, Briscoe Protective Systems Inc. “Our presentation will help educate groups, property owners, and tenants about the dangers of this silent killer and how to comply with the most recent laws.”
