Teen Creates Playing Cards to Save Tempe History

By: Tempe Historic Preservation Foundation

TEMPE, Ariz. - June 1, 2014 - PRLog -- Alexandra Melikian, a 17 year old high school student, has produced playing cards with images of Tempe's historic landmarks on them. Partnering with the Tempe Historic Preservation Foundation, fifty-six quality images were choosen and highlighted. The year of construction was researched on each, as well as the location and historic name. Some  images were taken by Alexandra, an avid photographer, and some were provided by the Tempe History Museum. Many of the old black and white ones have not been publicized before. Alexandra hopes people will enjoy driving around and seeing the beauty of the buildings. They will be educating themselves about Tempe's rich history and protecting the buildings at the same time. She has previously produced cards for Phoenix and Coronado, California, www.explorehistorycards.com.  To acquire the cards, contact the Tempe Historic Preservation Foundation, Tempepreserves.wix.com.  All money will stay with the non-profit Foundation. Alexandra graduated from Phoenix Country Day School and will Occidental College next fall.
