ATLANTA - June 1, 2014 - PRLog -- Artportunity Knocks will host Camp BeatKNOCKS, an interactive music production summer camp for teens on the campuses of SAE Institute Atlanta and SAE Institute Los Angeles. SAE Institute, a School for Audio Engineering will be hosting the camp as a community partner. The camp will run from June 2 through 6 in Atlanta and June 9 through 13 in Los Angeles, and will introduce participating youngsters to the excitement of audio engineering, songwriting, music production and music business.

“When our campers complete their week-long Camp BeatKNOCKS experience, they’ll have gotten a brief yet comprehensive taste of what it takes to be a studio professional in the music business,” says Ty Woods, co-founder of Artportunity Knocks, which runs the Camp BeatKNOCKS program as well as other arts education programs for youths.  “They’ll be working on industry standard equipment, learning from the pros, and gaining valuable insights, tips, and knowledge that will provide them with valuable lifelong creative media skills.”

The daily classes, sessions, workshops, and presentations at Camp BeatKNOCKS will include:

An introduction to digital audio workstations (DAWs), including Logic, Protools, Ableton, and Maschine softwares

Music business education

Studio collaborations with fellow campers

One-on-one instruction from professional faculty and industry professionals

Along with the education they’ll receive, campers will also compete in a hip hop beatmaking competition, which will be judged by J.Hatch, who has worked with 50 Cent, Diddy, and Rick Ross, and is founder of iStandardProducers, a music production networking organization.  Campers will team up through the week in beatmaking production sessions, and will present their creations at a final listening party event on Friday, June 6.  Producers of the winning beat will be awarded VIP entry to the popular iStandard Producers Beat Camp, which will be held at SAE Atlanta June 6 through 8.  iStandard Beat Camp will offer intensive studio instruction from such superstars as V12 The Hitman (Rick Ross, Miguel, Chris Brown), and M16 Beats (Jay Z, Young Jeezy, Lil’ Wayne). Other guest speakers scheduled to speak to the campers are: Bill Jabr (Bobby Valentino, Sammie), The Monsterz The Strangerz, (Rhianna, Demi Levato, Selena Gomez),  French Spencer (Ciara, Keri Hilson) and The Fr3shmen (Fabolous, Cassie, Jeremih).

“BeatKNOCKS campers will gain essential studio experience and make great connections with other teens who share their passion for music production,” says Woods.  “They’ll also leave with cool swag from SAE, Ableton, and our other sponsors.”

Camp BeatKNOCKS will be held at SAE Institute’s Atlanta campus, located at 215 Peachtree Street, NE #300.  The week-long session will begin on Monday, June 2 and run through Friday, June 6.  Daily camp sessions will take place from 9:30AM to 4:30PM.  Prior studio experience isn’t required, but campers should be passionate fans of the beatmaking, recording, engineering, and production process.  The cost for the one-week Camp BeatKNOCKS program is $379.  “Over 60% of our students are attending the camp on Scholarship thanks to community support from Walmart Neighborhood Market Atlanta, QuikTrip Corporate, and individual donations,” said Woods.  Sign-up can be done online (
