Bowling Green, KY – On May 25th, 2014, Bowling Green High School celebrated it’s 103rd commencement ceremony. That means for 103 years BGHS seniors have graduated the exact same way, well until Jonathan Schaefer put an end to that streak. Schaefer had been working on an idea for months that would require him to wear a rig made out of PVC pipe with a GoPro camera attached to the rig. He had to go through the loops and received approval from BGHS principle Gary Fields and superintendent, Joe Tinius. Once Schaefer had the open door, it was all up to him to get the footage he needed to make a video that would set him apart from a 103 years worth of graduates. As soon as Schaefer began walking the line during the commencement ceremony, every eye in the crowd was fixed on the contraption attached to his back. Out of the 291 seniors graduating, Schaefer truly stuck out like a sore thumb. However uncomfortable the rig was, he managed to get through the entire 2 hour ceremony with ease. After the day’s celebration was over, it was time for Schaefer to make this stunning footage, a stunning story. On May 29th, Schaefer had local social media buzzing as he announced the arrival of his newest video titled, “GoPro Graduation | A Tribute to the Class of 2014”. Just over 1 day since the release of the video and it has already received over 1,500 views. It may not seem like a lot off the bat, but for the size of Schaefer’s YouTube channel, That Guy Productions, this is big growth. Schaefer strongly believes that all this video needs is a push. Schaefer says, “this is a video for the class of 2014, not just my class. I believe this video can inspire and empower people all over the world”. With this video just being 2 minutes, you will be blown away by story it tells in such a short amount of time. Please watch and consider helping Jonathan make this a video the world can enjoy. Thank you.
