Given that younger generations feel more and more attracted  to issues related to human rights, there's a need to contribute to the solid formation of an emerging generation of human rights leaders and activists. In that way, MOOC technology (http://mooc.udp.cl/whats-a-mooc/) presents the opportunity to offer massive human rights courses online, open for free to people from many different countries.

This August, MOOC Chile (http://www.moocchile.com/) is launching its first online human rights course. The first part of the course it’s meant to be a general introduction to international human rights,  basic notions of public ethics and the law, as well as the concept and importance of human rights throughout history and in the current system of international law. During the second part, the course will study specific issues in the human rights agenda, such as the rights of women, of the child, of indigenous peoples; the environment; terrorism and armed conflict; and sexual minorities, among others.

You may watch the course's trailer here. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vIOp504lLts) Also, download the course contents here.

The program is led by Dr. José Zalaquett, a human rights activist since 1973 and human rights professor since 1995.

To be notified when the course starts, follow MOOC Chile (http://moocchile.com/) on Facebook (http://facebook.com/moocchilecom),Twitter (http://twitter.com/moocchile) or subscribe to its Youtube Channel (http://youtube.com/moocchile). MOOC Chile is funded by the Ford Foundation from New York and is housed at Universidad Diego Portales in Chile.
