Part 1 - Marketing Realities To Get To The Next Level

Last week in a webinar interview I was asked, “What do I think people in business have trouble getting their head around when it comes to marketing their business?”
 
NERANG, Australia - May 29, 2014 - PRLog -- Some of the common things people in business have trouble getting their head around when it comes to marketing are

#1.
 People in business spend their marketing dollars in places where their prospects are not looking which brings me to point two

#2. People think finding the right marketing media (media being the Internet, direct mail, postcards, promotional gifts, CD’s, DVD’s, books, seminars and so on) will solve all their problems.

The truth is all media is good just as a knife isn’t good or bad. It all depends on how you use the knife and media is much the same.

#3. Another reality people have trouble getting their head around when marketing is lack of the “whom it is for” so they trying to be all things to all people. Whether you’re an employee, business owner, Entrepreneur or sales rep we all need to take the sniper marketing approach not the shotgun marketing approach.

#4. It never ceases to amaze me how many people will put all their time, energy and focus on trying to get new customers while ignoring their previous customers so marketing reality number 4 would be to keep building the relationships and rewarding your existing customers. Of course the added bonus of that is existing clients you are top of mind with will also refer you.

#5. Last but not least and I’m guilty of this as well is we do not give in to our biggest dreams and goals. You and I have to surrender to our BIG DREAMS and goals and not only shoot for them but live them day in day out when things are good and things go wrong.

Hope that didn’t sting too much and yes there are many more marketing realities to discuss besides these ones so I’m going to continue this with part two next week.
