Tufts Medical Center Enrolls HIM Staff in ICD-10 Preparation Course Anatomy & Physiology for Coders
Course provides a comprehensive and complete review of major body systems
The course provides a comprehensive and complete review of major body systems, preparing coders for the kind of complex coding cases that academic medical centers often handle.
“It is critical for our staff to learn and understand the anatomy and physiology material essential to successfully implementing ICD-10,” said Arnette A. Marbella, Director, CDM and HIM Revenue Cycle of Tufts Medical Center. “This is especially important for an academic medical center like ours, which handles highly complex cases.”
Tufts Medical Center is a 415-bed academic medical center in Boston. It provides a wide range of services, from routine to emergency care, and treats the most complex diseases and injuries. The country’s oldest permanent medical facility, Tufts Medical Center’s founding institution, the Boston Dispensary, was established in 1796 by early American patriots that included Paul Revere and Samuel Adams.
Anatomy & Physiology for Coders, designed for busy coders who need to prepare for ICD-10, is a twelve-week, online self-paced course. The course includes engaging material such as videos, interactive educational games, full-color anatomical drawings, and weekly assessments.
Students also gain immediate knowledge to increase their proficiency in ICD-9 and CPT coding, and those who complete the course are eligible for 24 AHIMA CEUs, 23 RCCB CEUs, and 6 AAPC CEUs.
