DAYTON, Ohio - May 27, 2014 - PRLog -- EAGLE Certification Group has recently launched a new Gluten-Free Certification Program. The new certification will become part of the company's many food safety certification programs, and this program will be offered to all businesses that market gluten-free products. The Gluten-Free Certification Program is the only program in the country recognized and backed by the National Foundation for Celiac Awareness.

According to Markets & Markets, May 2013, the United States is home to the fastest-growing gluten-free market in the world. In addition, the Food and Drug Administration is requiring all products declared gluten-free to meet specific standards by August 2014. All food branded with a gluten-free tag must contain less than 20 parts per million of gluten. If this requirement is not met, manufacturers could be slapped with regulatory enforcement action, and their product will be considered misbranded.

Companies can avoid these issues with the help of the Gluten-Free Certification Program. EAGLE Certification Group states that Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points, an approach to food safety that helps reduce risks during production, is part of the foundation of the Gluten-Free Certification Program. This keeps preventative measures at the forefront for companies and also allows certified third party auditors to help maintain a business's product integrity. It also widens the market for companies, and gives them more access to retailers that have specific gluten-free requirements.

The National Foundation for Celiac Awareness's endorsement of the Gluten-Free Certification Program will also prove helpful to consumers as they navigate food items that fit their dietary needs.

"Millions of Americans suffer from Celiac disease or gluten sensitivity, and should have confidence that the gluten-free claimed food they purchase is actually gluten-free," says EAGLE Certification Group President/CEO, Albert "Skip" Greenaway. "By purchasing food that carries the Certified Gluten-Free mark endorsed by the National Foundation for Celiac Awareness, consumers can be confident the food they eat is manufactured by a company that has met all the requirements of an annual certification audit conducted by an independent ISO accredited company, which ensures the products meet the industry’s most stringent gluten-free food safety requirements."

EAGLE Certification Group has more than 100 years of combined experience in food safety certification experience, and feels that the new Gluten-Free Certification Program will complement their business's existing programs.

EAGLE Certification Group includes award-winning EAGLE Registrations Inc. and EAGLE Food Registrations Inc. EAGLE’s focus is on continuous improvement and customer satisfaction. EAGLE was awarded the 2011 Sloan Award for Business Excellence in Workplace Flexibility, the 2011 and 2012 Safe Quality Food (SQF) Certification Body of the Year, and the 2014 and 2013 Dayton Business Journal Best Places To Work Award.
