First Electio Pro-Am Golf Tournament of 2014 is a success

JOHANNESBURG - May 26, 2014 - PRLog -- The Award Ceremony of the "1st Electio Pro-am" included speeches delivered by, among others, the CEO of the PGA of South Africa, Mr Ivano Ficalbi, the Director of Electio, Mr Ian McGregor and the General Manager of Electio, Mr Kyle Pillay.

The tournament, held on 5^th May, was the initiative of Electio Alternative Investments, a company that has thus verified its dynamic role in the alternative investment market. The golf market is deemed an exceptional market where investments is concerned, since it makes up 50 million consumers of high income status and 32,000 golf courses worldwide.

The priority of the "1st Electio Pro-Am" lay in conducing towards the propagation of golf, a popular sport around the world, among South African fans. The tournament was held at a professional "Hard Course", equally combining modern infrastructure, international specifications and the enchanting natural landscape which was designed by the local legend Mr Ernie Els himself. The game was of extreme interest, since renowned professional golfers from 9 provinces (North West, Gauteng, Western Cape, Northern Cape, Kwa-Zulu Natal, Eastern Cape, Limpopo, Free state and the Mpumalanga) took part. Participants created 20 teams, each of which comprised one professional (Pro) and three amateurs (Am). The organisers offered monetary prizes of a total value of R15, 000 to the professional players, as well as substantial prizes to the amateurs that stood out.

With regards to the final results of the event, Mr Willie vd Merwe ranked first in the professional category (individual), followed by Mr John Dickson and Mr Juan Swart who ranked second and third respectively. The team from Pretoria ranked first in the team category of the event, led by the professional golfer, Mr Willie vd Merwe. The Johannesburg team, led by the professional golfer, Mr Leon Barnard, and the team from Sandton, led by Mr J Gonsalves, ranked second and third respectively.

The event was sponsored Electio Alternative Investments and is one of 5 Electio Pro-Ams to be held this year. The next event will be held on the 2^nd June in KwaZulu-Natal.
