Mayor Vincent Gray officially proclaims 6th Annual DC Week for the Animals May 24-June 1, 2014!
Washington D.C. Week for the Animals will bring together humane organizations, shelters, sanctuaries, businesses, advocates, community leaders, decision makers and caring citizens in an action-packed, compassionate week of fun-filled activities.
To further add to the excitement, George Washington University Law School will once again host a very exciting Animal Law Night event on May 29, 2014, featuring a panel of leading attorneys and advocates addressing current issues, that will be transformative to all in attendance. Ft. Myer Caisson Horses and Walter Reed Hospital animal-assisted therapy events will also be spotlighted all during the week! Zenith Art Gallery will host a Meet the Artists reception and open their new exhibit during the week: Zenith Zoo... Artistic Interpretations of our Planetary Partners. Born Free has a campaign "Fur For the Animals" that is going to be helping wildlife across the U.S.A.
A multitude of tail-wagging & fun-loving feline pet adoption events, exciting dog park and wildlife activities, Memorial Day festivals, blessing of the animals, ways to help and adopt retired military K-9's, free and low cost spay/neuter opportunities, microchipping, Memorial Day events featuring animals, activities to help the horses, celebrations, vaccinations, pet food/supply donations, veggie get-togethers, volunteer opportunities, a salute to our brave military and so much more!
