Segetis lands NextGen Energy grant
Minnesota’s Department of Agriculture awarded Segetis $325,000 in NextGen Energy grant funding through the Agricultural Growth, Research and Innovation (AGRI) program.
“The inclusion of renewable chemicals in the NextGen Energy Grant Program shows tremendous support by the State of Minnesota,” said Atul Thakrar, Segetis CEO. “We are energized by the stakeholders of Minnesota harmonizing support for renewable chemicals with energy and biofuels, similar to what is taking shape at the federal level with 2014 USDA Farm Bill. We are excited to be a part of it.”
Cora Leibig, Segetis VP of Research and Development shared, “This pilot will enhance our process development capabilities and allow us to expand the development of our biobased plasticizer platform.”
Segetis creates high performance, sustainable materials, reducing the world's dependence on fossil fuel based petrochemicals. Our Levulinic Acid based technology platform is positioned for significant global adoption with renewable alternatives that address toxicity issues in everyday items. With our flexible production technology, we have the ability to leverage a wide array of biomass feedstocks to meet the increasing demand for these high performance, healthier, biobased materials.
