AbleNet Inc. has appointed Chris Gibbons to lead the company’s new Speech Generating Device Services business. He will facilitate the launch of a new communication device to support funding and technology for clients with communication disorders.

St. Paul, MN – May 23, 2014 – AbleNet Inc., a world leader in assistive technology and curriculum  for persons with disabilities announces today the appointment of Chris Gibbons to Director of Speech Generating Device (SGD) Services as well as the release of a new SGD product called “Connect for Speech”  to aid with communication disorders. In his new role, Gibbons will drive AbleNet's funding and support services by expanding the company's already established relationships but with a focus on the new Connect for Speech product and access to funding for qualified individuals via Medicaid and Private Insurance.

Connect for Speech is AbleNet’s new speech generating device designed specifically for people with communication impairment. It comes with an Apple tablet pre-loaded with a prescribed communication application.  The complete solution provides access to fully custom communication software for each user. Connect for Speech provides exceptional sound output, touchscreen for direct selection, multiple switch ports for alternative access and scanning, an integrated battery, as well as variable mounting options to accommodate positioning and mobility needs.
