BMC zeroes in on 430 Campa Colas in city

MUMBAI, India - May 23, 2014 - PRLog -- MUMBAI: While the BMC is gearing up to demolish Campa Cola's illegal floors, there are 430 other buildings that have made unauthorized additions.

The 430 buildings were found during a ward-wise survey by the BMC to identify structures where illegal floors have been added. The survey revealed that 74 of those buildings are entirely illegal and have been built without any BMC permission.

R-Central ward (Borivli) with 96 buildings has the highest number of buildings where illegal alterations have been done. The second highest number of buildings is in G-south (Worli), where Campa Cola is located; it has 78 such buildings.

"This data has been collated to ensure that illegal extensions can be demolished. We are also finding out whether the buildings are involved in legal cases, if so we will pursue the litigations to bring them to a logical end," said an official. The BMC is also working on a mechanism to get stay orders on illegal construction vacated and initiate action against them at the earliest. Tnn
