Follow on Google News | SLO High School Math Teacher Receives SESLOC Education GrantBy: SESLOC Federal Credit Union Nathan Meinert, a math teacher at San Luis Obispo High School, was chosen to receive a grant that will be used to buy a tablet computer which he says will be part of his efforts to create a more student-centered learning environment. Mr. Meinert says that with the help of this technology, he can move among classroom groups to “facilitate discussions and prompt deeper thinking from student groups. It allows me to guide and tailor my instruction to meet the individual needs of my students.” Carla Swift, SESLOC Assistant Vice President of Marketing, made the presentation to Mr. Meinert and commented “Mr. Meinert is clearly a very dedicated teacher. SESLOC is happy to provide him another tool to enhance learning opportunities in his classroom.” Since 2013, SESLOC Federal Credit Union has provided over $7,000 in grants to help support creativity and excellence in San Luis Obispo County schools. Grants are available to kindergarten through 12th grade classroom teachers and directors of enrichment programs at accredited schools within San Luis Obispo County.
