-- Africa’s mobile towerco leaders and financial institutions are meeting in London on June 18 as infrastructure sales and outsourcing activity surges across the continent.
Over US$3 billion of mobile towerco transactions are currently taking place across the region according to industry news provider TMT Finance, as Pan-African telecom operators and towercos are making progress on complex agreements to increase network optimisation across the region.
Leaders from IHS Africa, Helios Towers Africa, Eaton Towers, Orange, Goldman Sachs, Millicom, Etisalat and LAP Green are among over 50 speakers and 150 delegates meeting for the TMT Finance & Investment Africa 2014 Conference in London (http://www.tmtfinance.com/
The annual leadership event, which has been expanded to meet demand for investment interest across Africa’s telecom sector, also features sessions on Telecoms Growth, Mergers and Acquisitions, Investing in Broadband, Private Equity, Raising Finance, Datacentres, Innovation, Mobile Money, Nigeria Telecoms, Regulation and Risk Management.
“Investor interest in Africa’s telecoms sector is growing rapidly and the mobile towers space is especially active,” said Dominic Lowndes, Managing Director of TMT Finance. “We are currently tracking eight live tower transactions between mobile operators and towercos, valued at between US$200m to US$800m, as well as number of capital raisings as towercos raise funds for more acquisitions and capex. Goldman Sachs invested in IHS, and Providence is looking to invest in Helios Towers Africa, with several other large private equity investors actively seeking to enter the market.”
