Lawrence Blake Group Int’l. Announces Opening of Washington D.C. Based Specialty Division
Lawrence Blake Group International announced today the expansion of it’s public relations firm’s public policy division, with a new office opened in Washington D.C.
In the early 1900’s in the Washington, DC’s Shaw neighborhood, confectioners worked in this now historic factory baking Wonder Bread and tasty Hostess Cakes. In factory closed in the 1980′s, moved its operations elsewhere and the building sat vacant for almost 20 years.
Since its beginnings as a freed slave encampment named after Civil War Colonel Robert Gould Shaw, the Shaw neighborhood has always had a unique sense of history. Spurred by the founding of Howard University in 1866, Shaw experienced an urban renaissance from the 1860s to the mid-1940s. In the years following, an influx of businesses – including the renowned O Street Market – along the 7th and 9th Street streetcar lines and cultural institutions like the Howard Theatre and Griffith Stadium opened, giving this neighborhood its distinctive, authentic character. Over the last decade, Shaw – and Washington DC as a whole – has experienced residential, commercial, and cultural growth, securing its reputation as the place to be.
