HOLLYWOOD, Calif. - May 20, 2014 - PRLog -- Are talent scouts heading to Coalinga, a small town in California to search out new stars? The city, just north of Fresno, was originally the site of a coaling station built by the Southern Pacific Transportation Company in 1888. Dubbed “Coaling Station A,” the name was soon abbreviated to “COALINGA.” Today, the city may just be the breeding ground of tomorrow’s stars. Best known to most California natives as a stopping off spot when driving the inland route between Los Angeles and San Francisco, Coalinga has given birth to California Chrome, winner of the Kentucky Derby and the Preakness, and a “filly,” Diane Chambers, whose film career has shifted into high gear with a star turn in “Sharknado” and a featured role in the soon to be released “Natural Born Filmmaker.” "The Coed and the Zombie Killer," an Asylum film in which Chambers has a lead role, will also soon be out on DVD. Until these two “celebs” hit it big, the most notable happening in Coalinga was the killing in 1853 of legendary bandit Joaquin Murrieta. Here is a video of Chambers’ appearance on the television show “Eye on Entertainment”:http://youtu.be/yl0neTrwfdU
Chambers believes that the “coincidence” that she and California Chrome are from the same town really isn’t that unusual. “Back in the 70's, my father owned a nearby chromium mine, and I had a couple of thoroughbreds and brood mares.” Expanding on the latter, she adds, “It's quite exciting being in the winner's circle, enjoying the Turf Club and having our own box.” She proudly notes, “Father was friends with John Harris of Coalinga-located Harris Ranch, where California Chrome was born and raised.”
Chambers now envisions having a featured role in a film about California Chrome. She even suggests a headline that might just appear in the local Coalinga newspaper, "Coalinga Bred Actress in Film about Coalinga Bred California Chrome."
