The “IPPY” Awards recognize merit in a broad range of subjects and reward authors and publishers who “take chances and break new ground.” Independent publishers, along with independent booksellers, have long held an important role in the world of books, offering an alternative to "the big five" conglomerated media publishers.
“I’m particularly proud of this award because there is only one IPPY category for all business books, including sales, management and career advice,” said John F. Dini. “With almost 5,500 total entries, it’s a bit overwhelming to realize that my book was chosen as one of the two best in the nation.”
Hunting in a Farmer’s World, Celebrating the Mind of an Entrepreneur examines the thought processes of modern day hunters, those who create opportunities for others. Small business owners are 3% of the population, but create almost two-thirds of new jobs. The book discusses why these people are driven to build and create, and why they succeed despite ignoring routine managerial tasks.
“It is a particular win for business owners in San Antonio,” Dini said, “since most of the stories of great entrepreneurs in the book are about San Antonio businesses.”
John F. Dini is a coach and consultant to hundreds of local business owners, and has previously published 11 Things You Absolutely Need to Know about Selling Your Business and Beating the Boomer Bust.
