WMGNA Scores Another “Home Run” with the University of Hartford’s Baseball Team!

HARTFORD, Conn. - May 19, 2014 - PRLog -- WMGNA continued its sponsorship of the University of Hartford’s Baseball team’s annual Senior Picnic for the third consecutive year. President/ CFO and one of the founding members of the University of Hartford’s Athletic Development Committee, Brian Beck and CEO Daniel Friedman are huge sports fans and welcome opportunities to support local educational efforts and sports clubs.

“The Senior Day Picnic gives us an opportunity to meet and congratulate the players on both their academic as well as their athletic successes and I was honored with the game’s first pitch.” Friedman, a huge baseball fan boasts that this event was a great way to warm up for his first pitch at Fenway Park in July.

This year’s picnic honored six senior players, one of which is Hawk’s catcher #21 James Alfonso who was also an intern at WMGNA. The other senior players are Ryan Carter, Brian Estevez, Alex Gouin, Brian Hunter, and Ryan Lukach.  Hawk’s Head Baseball Coach, Justin Blood looks back on how far the program has come over the last three years, sharing “When we took over in 2012 the team had gone 6-43 in 2011. We broke the school record for conference wins in a season last spring and just missed out on the tournament.” It just kept getting better and better as the Hawks ended their regular season with a historical 30 win season and enter the 2014 American East Championship.

Committed to supporting community sports and athletes, Brian Beck honors the memory of his father through the annual Alan L. Beck Scholarship Award in which a Bloomfield High School senior who demonstrates excellence in both academics and athletics receives a $1,000 scholarship. WMGNA and the Hawks have also joined forces raising money for the Miracle League of CT via their annual car washing event.
