Stroke Awareness in Women: How at Risk Are You?

 
ATLANTA - May 19, 2014 - PRLog -- This week on the PCOS Challenge radio show, host Sasha Ottey will interview Gregory Pokrywka MD, a Board-Certified Internist and Lipidologist from Baltimore/Towson, Maryland about strokes in women and what the risks may be for women with PCOS.

Gregory Pokrywka MD has been in private practice since 1987 and formed the Baltimore Lipid Center in 2001. Dr Pokrywka now serves as Assistant Professor for the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and is one of a handful of U.S physicians double-certified in Menopause and Lipidology. He is a member of the American Heart Association Council on Atherosclerosis, the National Lipid Association (NLA), the International and the European Atherosclerosis Societies, the American Society of Preventive Cardiology and is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians. He has lectured on “Aggressive Detection and Prevention of ASCVD in Insulin Resistant Women” and “Women’s Menopausal Health.” Some other areas of interest include “Advanced Lipoprotein Testing”, “Treatment of the Metabolic Syndrome”, “HDL Cholesterol”, “Diabetic Dyslipidemia” and more. Dr. Pokrywka was named to the Editorial Board of the Journal of Clinical Lipidology.
