Media Personality Jennifer S. Wilkov to Speak at the California Women’s Conference
Victim of the New York State Criminal Justice System’s & Ameriprise Financial's Erroneous Campaigns -- Jennifer S. Wilkov -- Has Used This Ordeal as Inspiration to Help Others; Wilkov Speaks Out About Her Experience of Overcoming Adversity
Ms. Wilkov will talk during Monday’s afternoon panel about Unleashing the Power of Women Coaching Women along with former Ms. America 2011 Tracy Broughton and Anne Loehr, dubbed “The Generational Guru” by the Washington Post. During her portion of the presentation, Ms. Wilkov will share the stories of what happened when she found herself at the center of a legal storm where she was incarcerated in Rikers Island for a crime she says she didn’t commit, how the criminal justice system failed to uphold her rights to fair prosecutorial practices and proper representation, and how it has changed and shaped her life as she has helped to change and shape the lives of others. She will also talk about how she continues to support women with the important skills needed to build better relationships, personally and professionally, and to speak up about the issues they care about.
Ms. Wilkov has previously addressed her controversial case in her award-winning feature article that appeared in the April 2009 issue of Marie Claire and during her March 2009 interview on CNBC Squawk Box. She has also spoken publicly about it during her TEDx Talk at the TEDxBroadStreetNY event in June 2011, which was held near Wall Street in New York City. Three years after she was falsely accused and incarcerated in Rikers Island, F.I.N.R.A., the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority, denied all claims in their entirety against Ms. Wilkov, proving her innocence and pointing to the failures and negligence of her firm’s compliance supervision, which they concealed from the criminal prosecution process years earlier.
“I’m delighted to have the unique opportunity to share these important insights with the attendees of the California Women’s Conference this year,” says Jennifer S. Wilkov. “Going to jail as an innocent man or woman is a fear held by many across the United States. Oftentimes, we are uncertain about what we are going to do when we are hit with what appears to be a devastating situation and, moreover, we are not confident about how we are going to handle it. What most women fear is to be judged, not by the justice system but by society at large. All of us need to learn that you have the right to remain fabulous – in every situation, circumstance and condition -- and that we can all make a difference. I’m thrilled to bring this important message to this year’s attendees.”
Ms. Wilkov will appear along with Jack Canfield, Jane Pauley, Arianna Huffington, Rosie Perez, Rhonda Britten, Cynthia Kersey, Lisa Nichols, and many others during this year’s prestigious annual event.

About Jennifer S. Wilkov
Jennifer S. Wilkov’s passion for communication has led to her being a # 1 radio show host on WomensRadio, an international #1 best-selling award-winning author, an international keynote speaker, an award-winning freelance writer, a successful book business consultant and entrepreneur. She survived being incarcerated in one of New York’s and the nation’s most violent prisons, Rikers Island, after inappropriately being told to plead guilty to a crime she didn’t commit by an attorney who mishandled her case. Her Sixth Amendment right was then overlooked by the judge in her case when she was denied her request for an adjournment to seek new representation after her attorney was granted a withdrawal just prior to her sentencing hearing.
The Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) denied in their entirety charges of fraud, withholding material facts, failure to disclose and breach of franchise agreement which were brought by Ameriprise Financial against Ms. Wilkov as a third party respondent during an arbitration held in May 2011. Ms. Wilkov continues to pursue an appeal in the New York State criminal justice system.
Jennifer continued to succeed as an author, media personality, entrepreneur and speaker after enduring this devastating, unimaginable experience. She knows what it takes to live the life you love in the face of any challenge.
