The Powder Room in Powell to Close

POWELL, Ohio - May 16, 2014 - PRLog -- “We lost our lease, it’s as simple as that” says Steve Yuszka, co-owner of the iconic shooting range and gun shop. “Many people thought we owned the physical facility, but we operated on a lease and it wasn’t renewed. That’s why we never could upgrade the facility.  The owner of the facility chose to sell all the acreage, including the structures, to a developer who will raze the buildings and redevelop the land.”

The last day of business is Sunday, May 18, 2014.

Since 1973 when the neighboring areas were just farmland, The Powder Room provided an enjoyable destination for area target shooters, league participants, scouts and everyday people looking for firearm training.

A few people knew the facility also had an underground rifle range, but it was frequently flooded and couldn’t easily be made suitable for retail use.

Yuszka and a new business partner have started a new retail gun sales business, named Powder Room Firearms in West Jefferson, west of Columbus. It is slated to open in June 2014.
