Houston Job Training Program Provides Networking and FREE Professional Help to Job Searchers in Hous

HOUSTON - May 15, 2014 - PRLog -- Houston’s premier job search program, Job Search 101 (JS 101), hosted the second “Jump Start your Job Search” free night of networking on Wednesday, May 14th, 6PM to 9PM at Texadelphia - 6025 Westheimer Rd. The event, facilitated by professional career coaches, created an atmosphere for networking, fresh ideas, building contacts, and moral support. “Jump Start Your Job Search” connects current job seekers with other job seekers, recruiters, staffing companies and professional coaches.  Jump Start your Job Search is a critical opportunity for people and organizations to learn more about JS 101 and what it has to offer, while networking with the appropriate resources.

Founded in 2012 during the highest rate in Houston unemployment since 1983, JS101 facilitates workshops, seminars, and job search teams to hundreds of Houstonians at their central location at Leisure Learning Unlimited in Greenway Plaza Area, and through refugee and community groups around the city. JS101's mission, based on the vision of founder, Ed Hubbard of TFI Industries, offers quality and effective job search training and advice from professional career coaches at no charge. Margery H., one of the program graduates, says, "If what you have been doing has not worked or you feel like you are drowning and are tired of treading water, catch your breath and get aboard the lifeboat that is Job Search 101."

JS101 provides encouragement, information, networking assistance, guidance, and training sessions in a professional setting. Professional career coaches with years of hands-on experience in HR, recruiting, career development, and communications facilitate all the JS 101 events and programs. The JS 101 coaches teach in a variety of settings from private shelters such as Dress for Success and YMCA International Services to public venues such as churches and community centers.

The Houston Chronicle reported recently that Patrick Jankowski, vice president of research for the Greater Houston Partnership, believes that the Houston area will create 69,800 new jobs this year, a 2.5 percent year-over-year growth rate. Job Search 101 helps Houston residents, at no charge, to write a professional resume, to prepare for the interview process, and to have the support needed for the journey.
