By: DirectWomen At the DirectWomen Board Institute Finigan attended informational sessions on key issues facing current and future corporate directors and had the opportunity to interact with Institute alumnae and past honorees. The Institute was co-chaired by Professor Hillary A. Sale, Walter D. Coles Professor of Law and Professor of Management at Washington University in St. Louis and Professor Lisa M. Fairfax, Leroy Sorenson Merrifield Research Professor of Law at the George Washington University Law School. Institute faculty featured leading experts on corporate governance as well as experienced directors and officers of large public companies. Speakers covered topics such as the role and work of nominating board members, the evolving nature of shareholder relations, the strategic role of audit committees and the role of executive search firms in board searches. Finigan has been with Hasbro for over twenty years, serving in various positions with increasing responsibility. She was appointed Chief Legal Officer in December 2010. She is an expert at brand-building, developing relationships with key stakeholders and identifying opportunities for growth and innovation. Finigan is responsible for overseeing litigation, intellectual property development as well as employment and product safety matters for Hasbro. She also manages the Company’s government affairs, social responsibility and ethics functions. In that role, she has developed creative approaches to ethics and compliance programs and global messaging over the past ten years, which has been instrumental in Hasbro being named one of Ethisphere Magazine’s “World’s Most Ethical Companies” in both 2012 and 2013. Prior to joining Hasbro she was an attorney at Brown Rudnick Freed and Gesmer in Boston, specializing in corporate and securities law. A graduate of Marquette University Law School, Finigan earned a B.A. in Economics and Political Science from the College of the Holy Cross.
