May 14, 2014 - PRLog -- Terry Halvorsen has been named Acting CIO of the Defense Department just days after David Devries was named Acting CIO.

Devries will continue his role as DoD Deputy CIO for information enterprise as Halvorsen starts his new role on May 21.

Halvorsen steps into the role after serving as Navy CIO since November 2010.

Teri Takai left the DoD CIO role two weeks ago.

Halvorsen, an almost 30-year federal service veteran, served as deputy commander of Navy Cyber Forces before being named Navy CIO.

Halvorsen joined the Senior Executive Service in July 2004 as executive director of the Naval Personnel Development Command.

In his new role, Halvorsen intends to adopt a unified information technology architecture and priorities for cybersecurity and interoperability.
