COLUMBIA, Mo. - May 13, 2014 - PRLog -- After completing a successful pilot GPRO project in 2013, Primaris is now offering data abstraction services to support group pratices with 100 or more eligible providers (EPs) reporting for the Group Practice Reporting Option (GPRO) Web Interface.

Group practices wishing to report Physcian Quality Reporting System (PQRS) as a group for 2014 must register via the PV-PQRS portal before Sept. 30, 2014.

Groups of 100+ EPs that report using the Web Interface are required to report Clinician and Group Consumer Assessment of Health Providers and Systems (CG-CAHPS).  As with all group reporting mechanisms, if the group is successful, then the group receives a PQRS incentive based on all Medicare Part B allowed charges billed by the group-leading to the maximum incentive. The group would also meet requirements for the VBM.

If the group is not successful, the entire group would incur a PQRS penalty of -2.0% in 2016.  Physicians in groups of 10+ EPs would also incur an automatic VBM penalty of -2.0% in 2016.

It is worth noting that in 2012 (the most recent year for which data is available) 100% of EPs that reported using the GPRO web interface were successful.

Primaris assisted three academic medical centers with GPRO in 2012 with:

•Abstracting 12,729 records in 5 weeks

•Looking at 22 individual measures, 15 modules with a minimum of 411 abstractions per measure.

•Offering opportunities for improvement in areas many clinics struggle with: depression screening, hypertension screening and management, consistent documentation tools

Primaris has the experience working with the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) and our partners interpreting the measures to ensure the highest scores possible. GPRO’s short timeframe coupled with the enormity of records that have to be abstracted require someone with professional abstraction expertise and the staffing to absorb the workload.
