The Chocolate 5k comes to Bismarck

BISMARCK, N.D. - May 13, 2014 - PRLog -- NR Road Racing will hold The Chocolate 5k in Bismarck on Saturday May 17, 2014 at 8:00 AM to benefit the Lunatics for a Cure. The event will be held on the Sertoma Park at Riverside Park Road & W Arbor Ave, Bismarck, ND 58504. Race registration is $30 for individuals and $35 per person for teams of 4 or more. Prices will increase by $5 on April 17th. There will be a $40 walk up registration fee. All ages are welcome, however, anyone 12 and older must be registered. We also welcome anyone who would like to volunteer!

NR Road Racing presents a chocolatey good time. We are offering you sweet treats to keep you going throughout the 5k. Yes there will still be water stations, but for those of you with a sweet tooth, you can also have a little piece of joy. Enjoy a family-friendly three mile course with your friends, family, and other choc-oholic strangers. It doesn’t matter how fast or old you are; everyone is welcome to participate and join in the fun! After the race, we’ll be still partying and filling up with chocolate. You are invited to hang out and party to the music and have some more chocolate on us! Family and friends are always encouraged to join in the party at the end!

The Lunatics for a Cure is an American Cancer Society Relay for Life team. The Relay for Life is a yearly event put on nationwide in thousands of communities and is an event that focuses on raising money for the fight against all forms of cancer. It is also a time to celebrate our cancer survivors and remember those that we have lost to this disease. The Lunatics for a Cure is a team that was formed in 2013 and was able to fundraise close to $2,000, this year the teams has much loftier goals and has been fundraising since last June. The team is known locally for its “flamingo flocking” fundraiser which is where people pay money to have flocks of 20-50 pink yard flamingos placed onto the lawns of friends and family. The Lunatics are then responsible for sneaking the flock into yards and removing them 24 hours later! It’s a flocking good time!

“When we heard back saying our Relay for Life team, Lunatics for a Cure was going to be the sponsor, we screamed and jumped for joy!” said team member Amber.  “We are so excited to be working with NR Road Racing to raise money for cancer research and enjoy a good run in the process!”
