Cabaret Singer and Vocalist Mary Carrick Releases Debut Album Let’s Fly
Rising cabaret singer & concert vocalist Mary Carrick releases her debut album, "Let's Fly". Her track list combines the Great American Songbook, cabaret, jazz, musical theater, folk and more.
"Let's Fly" combines tight arrangements for full combo, such as “Dance Me to the End of Love” (Leonard Cohen) and a samba infused “So In Love (Cole Porter); unexpected twists such as an ethereal “Both Sides Now” (Joni Mitchell); and simplicity, including an intimate “Flight” (Craig Carnelia) and lyrical “Meadowlark”
"Let's Fly" is available for purchase through Amazon.com, iTunes, CDBaby.com and through Carrick’s website, http://www.marycarrick.com. It's also available in select retail outlets, including Omaha, NE locations of Barnes & Noble - Oak View, The Bookworm, and Homer's Music.
Known for her agile voice, evocative interpretation, and an impressive stylistic range, Carrick showcases her gift for truthful storytelling and vocals ranging from delicate and haunting to shimmering, lyrical sounds capped with a powerhouse belt.
Carrick has collaborated with J. Gawf, resident music director of Opera Omaha who serves as artistic producer and music director. Carrick co-produces. Gawf leads most all of the arrangements with contributions by Eric Andries and Todd Brooks. "Let’s Fly" features Gawf and Brooks (piano), Andries (jazz piano), JB Ferguson (drums and percussion), Mark Haar (bass) and Kate Williams (accordion).
“From the beginning I wanted to offer a recording that represents me as a singer – encompassing my broad tastes in music and my passion for storytelling through song,” said Carrick. “What has resulted varied range of material that is connected by a cohesive theme that speaks to the wanting and yearning for what completes us and makes us feel alive.”
The complete track list includes:
