We offer therapeutic and educational programs free of charge so that cost is never a barrier to participation or achievement. Beginning as a single location in a Chicago suburb, GiGi’s Playhouse has grown into an international phenomenon; spreading awareness and inspiration to everyone it touches. Seventeen permanent locations, including our first international Playhouse in Queretaro Mexico, foster consistent participation, parent networking and self-esteem for families touched by Down syndrome. GiGi’s Playhouse - NYC was the 10th Playhouse to open nationwide February 25th, 2012. We are located in historic South Harlem, a neighborhood famous for diversity and social justice; a perfect match with our mission to create a place for families to gather and identify as a culture; for individuals with special needs to receive the support they need to make a meaningful contribution to society; and to change society’s perception of these individuals. GiGi’s Playhouse is the ONLY community center in New York City designed specifically to support families touched by Down syndrome. Photos available upon request. End
