He is founder, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Operation HOPE, America’s first nonprofit social investment banking organization. Bryant has been an advisor to the last three sitting U.S. presidents and was appointed by President Barack Obama to serve on his new U.S. President’s Advisory Council on Financial Capability for Young Americans. “We’re extremely honored and privileged to have John Hope Bryant speak at our annual luncheon,” said Dr. Ken Bird, Avenue Scholars Foundation President and Chief Executive Officer. “Our rallying cry this year is ‘Let’s Get to Work’ and Mr. Bryant will certainly inspire our students to work toward meaningful careers.” Founded in 2008 by a group of Omaha philanthropists, the Avenue Scholars Foundation is designed to help ensure careers for students of hope and need through education and supportive relationships. Students receive comprehensive support from high school through community college or university graduation and into the workforce. High school students have a full-time Talent Advisor along with regular access to tutors and mentors. Outside the classroom, students receive a wide range of academic, social and financial planning services. The Avenue Scholars Foundation’s Board of Directors is headed by Walter Scott Jr., Chairman, and Susie Buffett, Vice Chairman. Directors include Henry Davis, Dick Holland, Barbara Weitz, Wallace Weitz and Dr. Bird. End
