Walters Homes Helps Couple Rebuild Jersey Shore Home Damaged By Hurricane
ReBUILD Division Eases Recovery for Homeowners After Disaster
Like many Jersey Shore homeowners, the Rafanellos lost their home and endured the heartache and rebuilding that followed. It's been more than a year and a half since Sandy slammed into the East Coast, yet many people whose homes were destroyed are still trying to put the pieces back together. As a result of the hurricane, local award-winning developer Walters Homes created a new custom home division, ReBUILD, focused on the task of reconstructing homes and making them safer and stronger than they were before the storm.
"The hardest part of the whole thing was the stress we went through," said Ron Rafanello, a Hanover Township resident. "We not only lost lots of personal stuff, but there were memories in that house too."
After 22 summers of gathering family memories, Ron and his wife had some difficult decisions to make. They explored their options to determine the best course of action. The couple weighed the possibility of repairing and raising the home, rebuilding from scratch, and even replacing it with a modular model.
"I did a tremendous amount of research, and I looked at a number of builders," said Rafanello. "We chose ReBUILD after our first meeting with Ed Walters. We wanted the right contractor, and they were a fabulous organization. The people at ReBUILD went through the entire building process with us from A to Z.

"Too many homes were destroyed because they couldn't withstand high water and strong winds," said Ed Walters, Jr., founder and partner of Walters Group. "We've seen a tremendous response from homeowners who want to mitigate future damage by rebuilding homes that meet the new flood zone regulations."
And although "ReBUILD's price couldn't be beat, the most important thing for us was the workmanship,"
ReBUILD Offers 39 Home Designs
ReBUILD allows home shoppers to choose from 39 single-family home designs, specifically crafted for their property. The one- and two-story home plans feature three and four bedrooms, ranging from 500 sq. ft. to 2,293 sq. ft., and are priced from $75,705. As an added value, the homes are Energy Star-certified and offer a long list of standard interior and exterior amenities including energy-efficient appliances, ample lighting and HVAC systems.
ReBUILD's mission is to raise construction standards so that in flood prone areas a house is built the right way and above the flood elevations according to Walters. The developer also works closely with homeowners to assist with permitting, financing, and more.
Two ReBUILD sales offices are now open. At the Beach Haven West sales office located on Mill Creek Road in Manahawkin, visitors have the opportunity to tour the fully furnished four-bedroom West Wind model. In Ortley Beach, the sales center is located at 1801 Route 35 North.
