Presenting one global standard
The 19th North Sea Offshore Cranes and Lifting Conference took place last week, 23rd – 25th April 2014. Located in a slightly chilly Aberdeen, a packed agenda and lively social programmed warmed up proceedings for yet another successful event.
Presenting Modulift’s ideas on the opening day of the conference his theories generated early interest and gave rise to some very imposing discussions throughout the next few days.
Slightly controversial Modulift’s speech embraced their wish to see the advent of a single global standard to be introduced for spreader and lifting beams/frames. With one standard Modulift believes that it would make comparisons much easier, so getting to estimation stage quicker and more simply. It would also improve safety issues as we could see safety spec more clearly from the outset. Ultimately the customer would benefit, as lead times and costs would be significantly reduced.
These facts and figures got delegates thinking, motivating project engineers from a leading oil and gas company to think about how the idea could be taken further and slowly get the message across throughout the industry sector in a bid to implicate a change.
