"Rosie the Riveter" Girl Scouts Salute American Airpower MuseumBy: Keep the Spirit of '45 Alive Volunteer George Lutz took the visitors on a "journey" to enjoy World War II history and the Long Islanders who proudly served our great country. The scouts learned about the history of the planes on display at the American Airpower Museum, including their origins at Republic Airport. They also listened to stories shared by veteran volunteers at the museum. The scouts visited the museum in coordination with the support of Keep the Spirit of '45 Alive's (www.Spiritof45.org) The "Rosie's" of Girl Scout Senior Troop 3844 have coordinated scout marchers in the New York City Veterans Day Parade for Keep the Spirit of '45 Alive for several years. They will also be participating in the National Memorial Day parade in Washington, D.C. on May 26th.
